Conclusion/Recommendation:

TEC recommends to ITI to conduct an assessment of how the open data provided through the Zithromax® Tracking System is used, and gather feedback on the System from partners

15.2.1 - Zithromax® for Refugee Camps

Conclusion/Recommendation:

TEC recommends that ITI work with host governments to assist them in applying for Zithromax® for MDA in refugee camps if prevalence data indicates that treatments are warranted, and there is funding and an implementing partner

Conclusion/Recommendation:

TEC recommends that ITI discuss with WHO how best to engage UNHCR in the offer to provide Zithromax® to treat trachoma in refugee camps

Conclusion/Recommendation:

TEC recommends that Zithromax® continue to be donated for individual use at trichiasis surgery only in countries with ongoing mass drug administration

Action:

15.3.2 - Zithromax® Donation at Surgery

Conclusion/Recommendation:

TEC recommends that the ITI team collect detailed information from countries requesting Zithromax® for use at trichiasis surgery to contribute to the review process. Detailed information includes:
- The ultimate intervention goal for TT surgery,
- The annual intervention objective for TT surgery,
- Confirmation of availability of funds to conduct surgeries,
- Identification of partners conducting surgeries,
- Surgical delivery method, and
- Management of Zithromax® donated for use at TT surgery

Action:

Implemented by program team as part of the annual application process
