Conclusion/Recommendation:

TEC encouraged the Regional Health Bureau and Federal Ministry of Health to submit and immediate mid-year request for Wonsho, Malga, and Hula in Sidama if they wish to conduct treatments in 2016.

Action:

A mid-year request was received and approved.

Conclusion/Recommendation:

The request does not meet criteria due to continued lack of funding. TEC encourages the Regional Health Bureau to submit a mid-year request for consideration at TEC 15 if funding and an implementing partner can be confirmed.

No funding partner has been identified as yet. ESPEN could be a potential funder.

Conclusion/Recommendation:

ITI management should conduct a mission to Kenya to discuss challenges in the Zithromax® donation.

Action:

A country visit was not deemed necessary in light of extensive in-person discussions with the new NTD coordinator, Dr. Matendechero, in Arusha and Washington. The MOU has been signed, allowing shipments to resume and Dr. Matendechero has taken action to ease the log-jam on impact surveys. ITI Director has written to the Permanent Secretary to reiterate the availability of Zithromax® for those areas contingently approved subject to receipt of survey results.

Conclusion/Recommendation:

The low coverage against the official population and recommended that ITI work with The Carter Center and Ministry of Health to determine the correct target populations in Kapoeta East, Kapoeta North, and Kapoeta South prior to shipping 2017 treatments.

Action:

Completed, will be reflected in future applications.

Conclusion/Recommendation:

The distribution in Budi in 2015 was disrupted, resulting in low coverage, and do not count it as an annual MDA.

Action:

14.14.1 - Tanzania

Conclusion/Recommendation:

TEC expressed its enthusiasm about the progress underway in Tanzania and recommended that ITI management write to the Ministry of Health commending progress since the program was strengthened through integration with the NTDs.

ITI Director expressed enthusiasm in person with the Permanent Secretary at the Arusha meeting in August.

14.15.1 - Zimbabwe

Conclusion/Recommendation:

ITI management follow up with END Fund to learn from their experiences of working with the Ministry of Health in distributing drugs for other NTDs.

Action:

ITI conducted a supply chain assessment in Zimbabwe in September 2016 and met with the END fund during that visit. No major issues were raised and Zithromax® has been shipped.

Action:
